“El unico riesgo es que te quieras quedar” – “The only risk is that you want to stay”
Hearing this phrase, implemented a few years ago as a tourism campaign for Colombia, you might think at first that it’s overdone a little bit. But I think everyone who has been to Colombia knows it is the truth.
In this magical country, with a surface of 1,141,748 km², you will be able to see and discover a lot of things. Its diverse landscapes it is almost impossible to outmatch with its jungles, mountains, the pacific coast, the Caribbean coast, deserts, islands and beaches with palm trees and a spectacular flora and fauna. The approximately 50 million hospitable and open-minded Colombians are pleased about every tourist. Here you will feel really welcome.
In my mind, Colombia gives you a special feeling. You can hear music on every street corner, there is Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, Vallenato, Mapale and Champeta. Each region has its own style of music. For instance: Cali is known as the capital of the Salsa but in the north you will find a music style which is influenced by the Africans: the Champeta. Who enjoys dancing and especially not alone will feel comfortable in every region and will be able to learn a lot of different dancing styles, too.
It is the same for the food. Besides that it is really tasty, each region hast its own specialties of typical food. I am convinced that every taste will be fitted. I personally recommend trying the different types of soups.
Nature lovers will be satisfied, too. There is a huge diversity of animals and landscapes. You can explore a lot of things in the wild nature like a hike through the coffee zone, whale watching at the pacific coast, fishing with the natives in the mangrove forests, animal watching in the Amazonas, snorkeling and diving in the Caribbean or hiking in the Andes. The highest mountains are up to 5.750m.
All in all, no matter which tour you choose, how long you stay in this amazing country or where you stay; everybody will be happy and is going to find his own magical place.
