It is my second time in Cartagena but I have to admit it is much more impressive than my last visit in Colombia 3 years ago. With the tours from Nina I was first of all welcomed to an awesome little group of locals and foreigners. Even though I traveled alone this time I was feeling like traveling with friends, very well taken care of. Especially with the few locals in our tours I got to know a lot more about the culture and people here in Colombia. My tour guides were Nina, Luis and Andy. “Alternative Travel Cartagena” has specialized tour guides for each tour. All of them are super nice and great tour guides. With Nina I got a lot of information about the cultural differences and therefore more understanding for the country. With Luis I had a super energetic and beautiful bicycle tour, I would never have found the way myself but his sense of navigation and motivating us in this different climate was amazing. Very good organized. With Andy I learned sooooooo much about the history of Cartagena and he took us to amazing places I would have passed if he wouldn’t have pointed them out. I was amazed how many languages they all speak….Spanish of course, German, English, Italian, French….. My favorite of the 3 tours I booked was the big beach La Boquilla. After having so many adventures and exploring Cartagena it was sooooooo nice to stay some hours at this beautiful long beach La Boquilla. I was lucky because there have been almost no other clients. Maybe due to the fact that this place was outside of Cartagena and we went there in the middle of the week. I went swimming in the blue ocean, had some fresh lemonade, slept a bid in the hammock, read my book and ate an awesome lunch. Fresh fish, some local super delicious cook banana or so, salad and rice. Best food I had in Cartagena so far 🙂 Plus this place was soooo clean….the beach, the relax area and the bathrooms. Well, overall a good last day in Cartagena before my flight back home.
